4 of Cups

4 of cups is one of a series of mixed media works on paper completed in 2023 and inspired by Barajas, or playing cards, which have s deep resonance with me from childhood and which were prevalent in the homes of my parents, grandparents and family. These images are a study in archaic forms and minimalism. The materials will develop and mature with time, lending the works a temporal and ephemeral quality that changes over time. The works were made with blended oil pigments which produce layering and depth with am austere pallet, and consist of an ongoing series currently consisting of nine works. This piece has been framed for display at Spectrum Miami Art Fair 2024.
